Kinja'd!!!

Bike stalled out while riding 5 miles from home. Would idle but died under any throttle input. A friendly biker stopped to help and rode behind me as I pushed/ coasted the bike home so cars would see us and not blast by me too close.

Before the “chinese bikes are useless” crowd jump on, it turned out the issue was a simple clogged jet. The previous owner had left the bike to sit for a couple months with not much fuel in it, which turned to varnish.

Welcome to the wonderful world of used bike ownership. At least nearly every part you need is $40 and a buy it now away from your doorstep. with ~40 year old hondas it’s rarely that easy.

Also I don’t bash Chinese bikes, but the super cheap ones are junk. If you stick with a main brand they have QC and a official parts chain and while you won’t quite be a Japanese reliability you’re probably at that of Italian bikes.

Yeah parts are easy and cheap, there’s a supplier for this brand of bike local to me. Plus it’s incredibly simple. Single cylinder 4 stroke with a carb and manual choke. It rode really well until this issue so hopefully when the crap old fuel is cleaned out she’ll run well again.

If it sat for a while make sure to run an inline fuel filter. That’ll catch most of the stuff that could plug up a carb jet.

Yeah I have considered adding a filter.

I actually did more like 50 total before it stalled out. Rode great other than starting to bog occasionally (warning sign about what was coming). Rode great, handles well, very easy to ride. Only needs either rear brake shoes or adjustment or both, since the rear brake isnt too strong.
