Not the car’s gender, which is obviously usually female (all of my cars get men’s names, but I realize that is not the norm), but rather cars that predominantly attract a single gender.
Ironically, I rarely ever see women driving Miatas despite the stereotype. I’d say it’s maybe 75/25 men to women, although my boss and my mom are both women and both own Miatas.
I actually had a hard time coming up with a car I’ve seen more often driven by men until I remembered Toyobarus. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a woman in a Toyobaru. They’re like mobile sausage parties.
Jags, too, seem to attract men more often than women, although I’ve seen a few women in F-Types.
Mustangs and Camaros seem to almost have a 50/50 split. I see LOTS of middle aged women in Camaros and Mustangs.
I can’t think of any cars that attract mostly women, though. Maybe Solaras? Definitely G-Wagens.
What are your thoughts, Oppo?

I’d say the newer VW Beetles are driven by women more than men, but not by a huge margin.

Nissan Micra/March. Largely marketed to women, largely driven by them.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Mustang being driven by a woman, though they’re a niche vehicle over here. Actually that’s true of most American cars except SUVs
Toyobarus on the other hand I’d say 50/50. When I was shopping for mine most of the sellers were women, and most of the cars were auto. “I just want a cheap, sporty looking coupe” is a market we enthusiasts tend to forget.

I live in the Bay Area and we have a fair amount of female toyobaru drivers. Hell we even have a decent amount of WRX/STi driver’s too.

Evoques are mostly driven by women.
The biggest divider might be age though. Slightly tall Toyotas are driven almost uniquely by the elderly (in my part of Europe). As are narrow tall cars, like the Opel Agila and Merriva. Toyota Yaris and Honda Jazz (Fit) are primarily driven by the elderly too.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a man driving a Highlander, now that I think about it. I’ve seen men drive Venzas which are sort of the same vehicle, but not Highlanders.

I just realized. In languages like Spanish and German every noun has a gendered article. So do specific models get their own gender or do they just use the one for car?

This is a Renault Clio. She is a girl, so la Clio.
This is a Renault Captur, which is based on the Clio and shares a platform with the Nissan Juke. Nonetheless, he is a boy so le Captur.
