My mechanic never fails to make me question why I use him

I went to see the car this morning and to drop off some more parts to include with the body panels delivered on Monday. I had to get my OBD reader and CD case out of the car. So they walked me around back and there was the S600...rear end sagged to the fucking ground parked in the unpaved rear lot ON THE GRASS fitting right in with the stripped parts junkers flanking it on both sides with the battery totally fucking dead to add insult to injury. It’s rained incredibly heavy twice in the past week and there is no tarp on a car with a hood that can’t close with a vehicle specific design fault of letting water into the cabin from the engine bay. It looks like it hasn’t been started in 2 weeks.

Not to mention they say they “might” be able to start on it next Tuesday, 8 days after getting more than enough exterior body parts to do something. I’m getting more and more pissed the more that I think about this whole situation.

That has always been my dilemma: I do not doubt his expertise in the slightest and would trust him to do any mechanical repair to the vehicle. He replaced my ABC tandem pump and I haven’t had a suspension problem since. Now, do I feel he charged fairly for that service? No. I think I got gouged on parts. And in stark contrast to the reviews on Google, I have never once felt like they gave a damn whether they had my business or not.

It’s nigh impossible to find a trustworthy mechanic... I manage to get along, but since you own a car that you can’t fix yourself — a V12 S-class — your wallet is kind of a lamb out to slaughter.

that is a difficult one then. I would have to assume finding a mechanic who is comfortable working on an s class isn’t the easiest and the quality of work is important. To me however, customer service drives my choice to do business with someone. If it’s poor...I won’t be back

I don’t start working on a car till ALL the parts are there. Why waste time pulling a car in and out multiple times?

Because he said it’s going to take 2 weeks to do the repairs so the car was going to be going in and out and in and out one way or another.

The cost doesn’t bother me, it’s the total disregard and frankly disrespect shown to my property, damaged in an accident which is not my fault, which I have entrusted to them to repair.

What are you having done? I don’t know anybody that would pull a car in and out because it lowers efficiency and costs money

And this is why I go to the dealer. I feel as though they value me as a customer, they only use good parts, and I totally trust them to work on the car. It’s expensive, sure, but the piece of mind is worth it.

Now that I work for the biggest dealer network in the country, our Mercedes dealer is right across the automall from our GM dealer.

At the discount I get, my mechanic will never see me again.

That’s the way to do it.
