Just some light trails in a nearby park. The bike’s capabilities are greater than my courage or skill, so no complaints from me about the bike.

I was genuinely surprised at how well it performed. Both how stable and it was at very low speeds and how well it/me stayed balanced on steep slopes. There was a couple of times it started to slide down and I could hear the sidewalls dragging and I though “How no, I’m about to eat shit!” but it stayed upright.

It’s a pretty good bike for what it is. Not really a mountain bike, but something you can take off-pavement if you need to.

Ahh bummer :( Is it hard to find parts for? Also is there any other preventative maintenance I should do? Like bearings to pack or anything? All I’ve done with this is the saddle brake cables, pads, and oiled the chain.

It’s really hard to justify the cost of the parts given the overall value of the bike. While you should be able to find them, it may not be worth the money.

I’d suggest you start with a visit to the local bike shop.

You should be able to repack the wheel, crank, and headset bearings on that bike. You will probably need some specialty tools to do it, but they are inexpensive. Start shopping on nashbar.com and performancebike.com.

New v-brakes will really improve the stopping power. You would have to purchase everything from the levers to the brakes, but it’s a relatively cheap upgrade that will make a big difference in performance.

I love the fact you still have those tires from the 90s on there. Keep them, and don’t let them dry rot!!

Good luck! Don’t be afraid to deviate from the original spec list, as that usually gets expensive and often really time consuming than it already would be...

If you buy another one and like one better than the other and write it down, would that be schwindler’s list?

Here all night. Try the veal.
