Kinja'd!!!

Good news: No coolant contamination! Bad news: higher than average signs of wear, possible poor bearing health :(

Well damn that could potentially suck.

Oil Use Interval: 3,000 Hours. Do you have a gauge like on aircraft? Maybe you should have more frequent service intervals.

Joking aside, :(

Will the engine die with it or die of it?

I noted miles, must be a type error on their part.

Nice name btw.

I’m concerned about your oil being the wrong weight. Viscosity doesn’t just get up and change on its own. You’re not running diesel so it’s not crossing a barrier with lighter oil that way, and I doubt you dumped anything lighter than 5w30 in there so it almost certainly has to be heat.

I’m no mechanic but I know what I would do in this situation:

1) Watch my engine temp

2) Watch coolant level and color

3) Get another analysis at your next change and see what’s trending

I also really hope you’re using synthetic as it’s far less likely to break down due to heat which will help your engine out a ton if it’s a bearing.

Engine doesn’t sound unhealthy, nor does it feel so. My next oil change will go to them for a follow up.

I mean it does have 253k miles on it, I wasn’t exactly expecting a clean bill of health.

If you read the caption you’ll see that I was never exactly sure what weight was in the engine in the first place. It might not have thinned out due to degredation, but was just thin to begin with. They said their analysis pointed to it being 5w30 so that was probably what was in there.

Someone else did the last oil change and I forgot to ask what they put in.
