Kinja'd!!!

Any golfers out there? I actually don’t like golf, but my father does. So I play in this tournament with him once a year. Couldn’t have asked for better weather and it beats working!

I enjoy drinking and hitting stuff with sticks.

I don’t enjoy looking like a golfer.

Played 4 years in college, probably haven’t played more than 4 rounds in the 2 years since my last college championships.

I picked up golf this year and love it. Relaxing and infuriating at the same time. Also hanging out with and egging on my friends is great. Still learning. It’s also fun to drink and drive(golf carts)where no one cares.

I have played for about 7 years now. It’s great with the right friends.

I didn’t get the appeal of golf until I saw the drinks cart.

I’m an oppogolfer. My golf partner and I have a standing game every Monday afternoon (he is a retired chemist, and I arranged my four-day work week specifically for the fact that far fewer are on the golf course on Monday afternoon than there are on Friday afternoon). For a couple of years now we play a twilight game, both because we’re cheap bastards and because spending time outside in Southern NM becomes more pleasant when the sun isn’t directly overhead and the temperature starts drops from midday hotter than balls levels.

I’m a terrible golfer (although my partner isn’t), but I enjoy the game from the perspective of the course being a pleasant place with grass and tress where I get to walk around and whack things with sticks. It is also a place where I get to drive a vehicle with a beer in my hand that was delivered to me by an attractive girl. Normally as an adult, walking around whacking things with sticks and driving vehicles with a beer in your hand is frowned upon and would result in talking to folks with badges and guns (and on their terms, not yours). Out on the golf course, all these activities are actively encouraged. Our Monday game also always ends with a trip to a local brewery to finish off the evening.

Playing a regular game for a couple of years has let me improve from being a 150 golfer to being a steady 100-110 golfer. At times, it looks almost like I know what I’m doing on a golf course. Other times it just looks like I’m whacking things with sticks and drinking beer.

Was on my high school team, lettered senior year. Did a semester in college for PE credit. Then I’ve been to the driving range like twice in the 9 years since then.

I actually played competitively up until about 4 years ago. Still find time every now and again. Doesn’t deserve the bad rep

Yup. Worked at nice country clubs outside of D.C. throughout high school, so I always played for free. I’m not very good, but I really enjoy it and have lots of fun when I’m out there. Go with friends and it’s an awesome time. Not sure why everyone thinks it’s only for douches these days.

I do, it’s enjoyable. I get out weekly, sometimes twice a week, with my father in law and brother in law. I skipped out on going today because I promised my 7 year old we’d go fishing.

I play at least once a year.

I’d love to play more, but don’t generally take the time to do so.

That’s the way to do it! Free golf, solid tips, and the work was usually pretty easy.

Disc golf for sure. Its sort of like golf but a lot more casual. Suits me well since I live and breathe ultimate frisbee. My favorite part about disc golf though is just that it is a free hobby after you buy a few discs. As long as you dont go crazy and carry around a caddy full of discs, its real easy to play cheaply.

Oh I love disc golf! I haven’t played in forever but I’ve got 3 (A driver, mid range, and “putter”) I almost never use the putter. Discs make you a better frisbee thrower over all, at least it did for me.

I find that I am significantly worse at throwing a frisbee after a round of disc golf. I have played both in the same day and I just trashed every throw I made with the frisbee lol. But overall, throwing the disc golf driver properly definitely helps me with my long throws in ultimate just in terms of proper form. I used to shank everything way too high but I have learned to get things lower and straighter.

I also only had three discs but I recently picked up a better driver. Made a decent difference but hopefully I dont fall down the rabbit hole of buying 30 more of them haha.
