Kinja'd!!!

This car is nothing what I expected to get. And I absolutely love it.

My post history suggests I was looking at pretty much at Mustangs to replace my old one, but long story short finding my perfect car was proving 100% impossible without spending ludicrous amounts of money. So I played around with some other ideas, including storing the Mach 1 (Which would be way to expensive) and the idea of the FiST was born.

I had a blast on my test drive of the FiST, started realizing that it would actually be a logical car to have and planned to order one so I could enjoy the Mach 1 for another few months. I then went to sit in a Focus ST with Recaro’s at a local dealer when the salesman found nearly the exact car I wanted at another dealer. I wanted magnetic, Recaro’s and black wheels. No more or less. Later I did my own search and found that car, but in black at an Oklahoma dealer.

I went forward with it, I didn’t think it would work out and I didn’t want to deal with the pain of cleaning a black car anyway. I would get nothing for my trade and wouldn’t qualify for 0%. Until they gave me EXACTLY what I wanted for the Mach and I qualified for 0%. Better yet, the same car arrived at a closer dealer, but with the Ford Performance carbon fiber shift knob. I had to have the car.

So here it is, I hated to let the Mach 1 go, but for my last two or so years in college and my future this made way to much sense. I loved the Mach 1 and it was a hell of a first car but it’s time to move on. If all goes as planned, I can pay this car off in only a couple of years and get whatever I (Reasonably) want afterwards. I am also so proud of myself for being able to pull this off at my age, it took a lot of hard work. I never would have thought this possible a few years ago.

Anyway enough text, more pictures. This car is ridiculous fun.

Hell yeah, dude. I had mine for 3 years and loved it, I just traded it for a ‘17 Mustang. The FiST is so confident and just makes you feel so good every time you get behind the wheel. Congrats!

I want to feel the carbon knob, because the stock is actually really well weighted. Congrats!

So glad for you. Getting what you want is good, but getting it at the deal you want is great.

Mark me down as jealous. I’ve been looking at these for some time even though my 10 year old A4 has no issues and is a great highway cruiser. I’ll just have to live vicariously through oppo. What else is new

Thanks! It’s crazy how much confidence I had while driving this thing. On the test drive of another two cars I did things I didn’t think I could.

We’ll have to see about efficiency, I only have 200 some odd miles on it but the MPG monitor is still showing 23! We’ll see if I can do better.

I was going through the same thing, my Mustang was in great shape but with the way the deal came together I had to get the car. Surprisingly no regrets!

With a tune, stop and go traffic, and constant abuse, I still average 28.

I test drove both back to back. I thought I would have liked it more because I liked the extra power, but in reality it just led to a lot of torque steer and I found the FiST more entertaining. Plus I paid less for it.

That’s crazy impressive. I’m still freaking out about going more than 170 miles on a full tank. And the FiST has a smaller tank than the Mustang did! It took me 60 miles just to move the gas needle from F.

If I’m out of the city on secondary roads I routinely break 400 on a tank.

Even if you don’t plan any other mods, I highly recommend one of the short shift adapters out there. Mountune or Boomba are both quality. Even after all the other stuff I have strapped on mine the short shifter was one of the best/cheapest mods I’ve done.

That was exactly my finding, most of the time the extra power in the FoST just means more torque-steer. Also, since the FoST is heavier, it’s sprung a little firmer than the FiST, and on crappy Vermont roads that makes a big difference. I also like the clutch feel on the FiST better. I too drove both and ended up picking the FiST as the more fun, traffic-friendly car and also a couple thousand cheaper.

I’m curious to find out what these will end up being like with 100k+ miles on them. Or after 150k or 200k. Long term reliability never seems to be Ford’s strong suit.

I’m not quite sure if I’m doing a short throw yet, I do kind of miss how tight my short throw was in the Mustang though so I might look for one. Is the adapter easy to install?

Knock on wood but the car feels pretty durable all around so far but only time will tell. My Mustang was rock solid at 115K after performing its maintenance.

Depends on the car, and the snake oil salesman. In this case, and in most gasoline powered vehicle’s case, no.

I’ve noticed in the U.S. you either go from a Mustang to a Fiesta ST or from a Fiesta ST to a Mustang.

Glad your liking the new car.

I can’t get on with the Recaro seats. Turns out I don’t have a Recaro arse.
