Went to a farmer’s market on the Big Island. These three pulled up together and parked. I don’t know much about these kinds of things, but they looked clean, if not special.

Also, they made sounds that give you the feels right down in the jalopniks.

First a Z/28 Camaro with the RS appearance package which includes the awesome hidden headlights and all-red tail lights with relocated reverse lights. The second is a 1968 California Special Mustang GT, originally offered in California with a Shelby GT350/500 nose and rear end but using the notchback body. The third is just a Chevy Nova SS with American Racing VN450 “Hopster” wheels.

This may explain why I did not go around for the front-shot of the Camaro. It was hidden from view with its headlights in hidden mode. Like when a small child covers its eyes and discovers that the entire universe ceases to exist.

I’m trying to sort which part of the island this was, I want to say down towards Volcano somewhere, but out towards Hawi on the North side might work.

The Camaro probably looks like this from the front.

Maku’u Farmers Market (Pahoa, on 130). We spent four hours eating, followed by a four hour food coma nap. So budget the whole day and you’ll be ok.

Yeah, we rejected most tourist protocols. Just rented a car and took the smallest, most obscure roads we could find. Like all the way up Mauna Loa Road, and 137 from Uncle’s Awa Bar to Paradise Dr. Stunning.

Yeah, up high you would never think you were in Hawaii unless you knew what HI can be like, most people just think Waikiki. I know some great spots with lava tubes full of fresh water, you can swim between them. Over by Kona down the beach from the Paul Mitchell house there is the old royal fishing hole and it’s open to the ocean now, it’s like da turtle parking lot. My family had the Hilo Mercantile Co. and the building is still there, survived the tsunami back then. My last name is Parker so I have some connection there with the ranch, my dad’s ranch in MT and WY traded cattle out there once people were over here. I am in SF because some of my family came here, and when a woman was pregnant they went to SF to have the baby because it was the US, HI wasn’t.
