It seems like any time I’m behind a Chrysler product from around the Aspen/Avenger/Patriot era or earlier, the third brake/CHMSL light is out.

Kinja'd!!!

The early 00s minivans are particularly bad about it. Though I’ve seen FCA era Dodge’s with the third brake light out too. Hell, even ones I thought had LEDs have been dead sometimes. I’m guessing shitty wiring going up to it.

Current generation Honda Odysseys seem to have the same issue as well. I’ve never seen any other Honda with a blown out third brake light except the Odysseys.

On the topic of brake lights, it’s rare I see a 2011-2014 Sonata without one if its main brake lights out.

It sounds like me with GMT800's always having a headlight out. At any given time, at least 3 of our’s will have a light out.

Headlight or running light? My dad’s eats through running lights like no tomorrow, yet the headlight bulbs are original I’m pretty sure. The socket on the passenger side DRL is actually mildly burnt/melted...

I mispoke, the 900 is what we have. But either model, it’s the headlight.

I’ve always wondered why they go through bulbs so quick. I’ve always assumed it has to do with them being on basically all the time since they’re driving lights as well as low beams, at least on the 900.

That’s precisely why.

Fun fact, from 92,000 - 195,000 miles I’ve replaced every bulb in the Crossfire except for anything in the rear. Granted its hardly a Chrysler product.

Also having a light on the dash tell you a bulb is out is really helpful.

That doesn’t sound like a very fun fact.

I wish more cars had that. My M3 had that and it was great.

Kinda like how all Saturn S-Series (or at least in my area) have cracked windshields. Probably partially due to the fact that A. No Saturn S-Series owner has the money to replace their windshield, otherwise they’d be driving a different car, and B. My province uses gravel instead of salt.

And a large amount of first gen Mazda 3s have rust between the tailgate/bumper.

Funny you mention the Odyssey. When my mom got her 2011 Odyssey three years ago, the third brake light went out on it probably about 9 months into ownership so the bulb only lasted for four years. On her 2000 Odyssey, that the bulb lasted for 13 years! It actually went out a couple of months before we traded it in.

You’ve been behind my friends dad who bought the one Aspen? That’s cool.

Through some sort of black magic, my Sierra’s original DRLs both still work.

I have been around more Subarus lately, late models at that with both tail/brake lights out and only the third one working. It really grinds my gears when people have brake lights burnt and do nothing about it. I let someone at my daughters school know they had their drivers side and third brake lights not working, even offered to replace them. They were burned out for more than 6 months before getting replaced. It irks me that people don’t replace a simple safety item that costs a couple of bucks.
