And somehow, based on witness testimony that he was speeding, he was found at fault (or at very least cited). Hopefully this video clears that up.

Well that’s shitty, but more proof that having a dashcam is a good way to go. Does highlight the fact that I have pretty mixed feelings about GPS on dashcams, everybody speeds a little, but even being 5 over here could be used against him (doesn’t appear to be speeding much if any just based on the footage). The A119 has an ugly little GPS mount thing, but if he’s using that model, it doesn’t appear to be embedding anything in the video.

How does one receive a ticket for speeding if there is no proof other than someone saying they are speeding?

Also sounds like the witness is a complete dumbass.

Yeah, that doesn’t look like 45 mph to me. In fact, the camera-car slows down even further just as the light turns green.

If anything, the car’s going too slowly to be in the left lane.

Some states (like mine) have their weirdass laws where cops are required to write a ticket to someone in an accident, no matter who was there or if they have any witnesses. They usually talk to the parties, then just make up whatever they want and send a ticket to one of the drivers.

If anything, it makes me want a dashcam that much more. I just don’t know where to tap power up there for one, otherwise I’d get one on there ASAP.

I’m considering doing a tap, but I just power mine off the cigarette lighter port. Just wrap the cable under my glove box, around the end of the dash, up the A-pillar and then along the top of the windshield. Not super clean, but cleaner than my cell phone mount.

I am too OCD to live with that. I roll my phone charging cable carefully every time I use it, too.

You’ve reminded me of the other thing I need - a cell phone holder/mount. Getting tired of using my cup holders.

I also wish my cup holders had a cover like the EU Focuses and Mazda 3s.

Left lane “passing lane” laws don’t apply to residential highways that contain left-turn lanes.

Ah, ok. (Sorry, I’m not familiar with Nebraska’s laws.)

The whole left lane fast lane thing doesn’t really apply on normal Streets with turn lanes. At least not here.

I should really buy a dashcam, I keep meaning to but it’s never an urgent thing for me to do and I have other expenses right now

I don’t get how anyone turning left on a solid green wouldn’t be cited. Speeding or not, you need to assure you have room to complete your turn, the straight ahead driver has the right of way. Glad they had a camera. Reminds me, I need to mount mine.
