Why don’t we just go... hang... out with ya’s... with... Alice Cooper...

I haven’t watched that movie in way too long.

As a lifelong drummer, I’ve always loved that scene.

I think that I remember hearing that it was really Dana Carvey on that drum solo.

Kid 1 made life 5x harder. Kid 2 made life 10x harder than that (it’s negative synergy because they fight). I’ve heard it starts to balance out around kid 3, but I’m not ready to trade our man-on-man coverage for a zone defense. I think we’re stopping.

Sometimes we have moments with a glimpse into what it was like before kids, and it’s sort of like that scene at the end of Hurt Locker where he goes home and leaves all the danger and insanity, only to find that’s not the life for him. I wouldn’t trade it for the world and can’t even remember what it was like 7 years ago.

Ever find it ironic that GIFs are now approaching the length and complexity of full AVI and MPG movies in the mid-90s?

It has been confirmed lots of places that it was, in fact, Dana playing. There was also a brief period where he had a talk show, on which he would frequently play the drums.

That has crossed my mind sometimes, and not only that, but the fact that there’s in instantly accessible and appropriate GIF for anything. If a picture is worth a thousand words, what does that make a GIF?

I have about a 30% success rate in avoiding eye rolling when texting a gif to my wife. The other 70% results in extreme eye rolling, which she does not send back in the form of a gif.

Yep. I got snipped, on my own volition and with my wife’s full support, shortly after #2 was born healthy. She had hard pregnancies, #1 was (and remains) hard but we didn’t want an only child, and #2 is almost two and has fully embraced the Terrible Twos early. We are both beside ourselves on a daily basis, but still wouldn’t trade it for anything because there are moments of pure love and sweetness that mean more than anything. I just hope they both calm the hell down and learn to listen soon, because they only seem to have gotten harder.

Have three boys. Whoever told you that is a liberal, socialist, hipster, lying fucking bastard.

I’m sure it’s possible to be easier, but our youngest is referred to as the little dictator. At one, you need a moving van to carry all the shit you think you need to go to the store. At two, a van to go to grandma’s house. At three, don’t forget to take the kid and you’re doing OK.

My wife also had two very difficult pregnancies. The delivery of number one was brutal, torture, and got so scary at one point we thought she might not be coming home with the baby and me. Luckily the delivery of #2, at a different hospital used to dealing with high-risk pregnancies, went smoothly.

I got snipped last year. Best thing I ever did for us (besides supplying some prime genetic material, of course).

We’ve been extremely lucky, kiddo number two, who just turned two a month ago, is as laid back as a child could possibly be. If she’s crying she’s either tired, hungry, or thirsty. Pretty much no other time. She’s been getting into EVERYTHING lately though.

I just finished day three of being home alone with them for the summer.

Man, sorry to hear #1 was so hard, that’d be unimaginably spooky. It was 24 hours of labor for our first, no drugs, but no real danger other than crazy pain. #2 had the umbilical threaten to strangle her, which was scary, but otherwise good.

It takes a true man to willfully remove himself from the gene pool, right? ;)

Man, my kids turn 5 & 2 in July and they’re just hard. Healthy, but hard. Waking up at 5:30, crying for no reason that we can discern, completely failing at listening... And, they never, ever, sit still. No chill. This is weird, because my wife and I are super laid back, and the girls are just full throttle from sunup to sundown. My 4 year old broke her arm recently, just from running into a wall at full speed, flailing around.

I hate my job, so I’d happily trade it for being with the kids, but they’re a job too. Got summer plans?

That first delivery started off with four days of torture and waiting. My wife developed preeclampsia, so they admitted her immediately, but decided to wait until the next day to try to induce labor, for ... reasons, I guess. They then attempted to induce labor for THREE FUCKING DAYS! Which never got anywhere, and during which they stuck my poor, comically swollen, wife with roughly 850,000 needles. Final IV count, after countless attempts, was 8 IVs in her.

Finally, at the end of the third day of attempted induction, the baby’s blood pressure started dropping, so they did an emergency C-section... like they should’ve done roughly four days sooner.

My poor wife wasn’t done being tortured yet though. After the surgery, she developed a spinal fluid leak from the three failed attempts at pre-surgery anesthetic. The symptoms of that are, you can’t sit up, and if you do you’ll start puking until you lay down.

So, for three more days my wife got to attempt to feed our child with eight IVs in her arm while puking every time she sat up. That wasn’t going so well, which got us yelled at by a bitch of a pediatrician who I’d probably kneecap if I ever saw again.

Fortunately everyone ended up fine, and now it’s just a story to tell.

And that’s right. We’re so manly, we’ve got nothing left to prove ;)

That is brutal. We certainly have days like that, but they aren’t the norm for us. The oldest is a bit of a drama queen, but still a pretty easy kid all in all. The little one is just chill as can be. The big one tries to pick fights with the little one, but the little one usually just honey badgers it, because she don’t give a duck.

My wife has grown to hate her job, so once we get the credit cards payed off, she’s going to quit. I am lucky enough to like my job, at least most of the time.

Summer plans are thin. There’s a rallycross this weekend and one in August. I also somehow managed to get a hall pass to go to the IndyCar race at Road America for the entire weekend. I’m gonna owe the wife big time when I get back from that. Mostly just watching the girls and getting as much work done on the house as I can. We’ll probably do a long weekend away somewhere in driving distance at some point, to keep my wife sane.

You have any summer plans?
