So Tesla will initially offer the model 3 with a choice of color and wheel size.

Toyota be all - They let you choose wheelsize?!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Seriously, “building” a Land Cruiser is the easiest thing you will do today.

I personally like all the options on my vehicles. In fact, it bugs me when I don’t have an available option on my DD. Upgraded stereo? Ventilated seats? Champagne storage? I need them all, even if I don’t NEED need them.

Getting a vehicle that comes standard with all these traditional options almost bugs me. Have to add a front end replacement onto the LC because of this.

I wonder what those people decrying the Bolt’s “cheap” interior are going to say when they sit in a Model 3.

yeah, I think people are going to either be let down or so eye’s glazed over with sparkles and rainbows they will claim in the new standard in minimal elegance.

One of the things I love about Toyota.

Though I really wish I could get a sunroof without having to upgrade to the “premium” model.

Praise it to the moon. Chevy interiors are always cheap, even when they’re not. And regardless of what it may or may not be, competitors are allowed to do the same thing largely without criticism. I’m not saying GM interiors are wonderful, or that many in recent memory weren’t truly awful. But the double standard is retarded.

For example the current Mustang. It’s interior is SOOO much better than the Camaro, right? It may be, it may not be. One thing I know is there were switches and handles in there that were reminiscent of the 2002 Montana and 2006 Malibu. And hard plastic interiors. First off, can we let_it_die as far as trucks are concerned. In general. Besides the fact that the F150 is the biggest offender, I don’t care if I have hard plastic in my truck. Moving on... we have the Sienna. More hard, disgusting plastic than was in or previously mentioned ‘02 Montana.

While we’re on the suject of double standards, styling. The Gen1 Colorado got shit for it’s fender styling. Which is largely the look the Taco used the next year.

...Imma stop here. Sorry but this has been brewing for quite a while and you were the first dumping ground

I think it looks a little fat and should have two solid axles like a proper Land Cruiser, but yeah, its absolutely a great vehicle. that 5.7 is pretty nice too. PLUS REAR SEAT WARMERS

I was in a brand new Toyota Sequoia yesterday. A vehicle with a starting price of $46,000. Dash was 100% hard plastic. But you never hear about that from anyone.

I really don’t see the need for a Solid axle unless you are doing some serious off roading.

The IFS diff is plenty strong and, if you want to get crazy, a long travel setup is just as good as an SAS without having to deal with all of the negative road manners you get with an SAS.

ATRAC definitely negates the need. That’s voodoo magic stuff! Without ATRAC and lockers, keeping tires on the ground is really important.

The long travel stuff does a really good job of keeping tires down. Kits are up there in price, but worth it if you’re crawling on some serious trails

I don’t get the BFD. They are launching the car with a “Launch Edition”. More than likely this will be loaded with everything. Once that’s out of the way they will allow the more traditional ordering with various options.

thats true, I mean its just the fastest way to get production numbers up and early adopters aren’t likely to care as much.

Also, just one config means that the company isn’t doing any production validation testing (per reports) and skipping right to FAI on the factory line.

I’m just reminded the hubris of DaimlerChrysler, where the Germans didn’t believe that Chrysler supplier parts cost almost the same as some German suppliers for base components like dashboards and fuel pumps; and then started cheapening out things like interior trim and other stuff in order to save money.

Yeah, I’m slowly becoming a GM fan just because of the underserved hate they get. Although I’m still salty about pushrods in 2017.

Oh well, from what I hear the V6 Camaro is very good.

Full disclosure: I was a GM fan from the start. But I’ll freely admit that they’ve put out some horrendous interiors (and cars in general). My own interior kinda blows. But it’s a truck, I don’t care if there’s no soft-touch.

No reason to be salty about pushrods. The motors are lighter, physically smaller, simpler, very reliable and proven, develop great power and low-end torque, put out very good real-world MPG’s and if we’re going to get technical a more recent technology. OHC and OHV came about at roughly the same time, but OHC in fact slightly sooner. Just because everyone collectively forgot about it for a while doesn’t make it new.

I’m fundamentally opposed to a V6 in the Camaro but dat noise...

Does anyone know why there are no options on the U.S. Land Cruiser? I know in Mongolia they sell the GX and VX versions. One has a 6 cylinder, the other an 8.

Kinja'd!!! "HammerheadFistpunch" (hammerheadfistpunch)
06/07/2017 at 17:43, STARS: 3

yeah it goes like this.

60 series starts to see an uptick in sales to wealthy people

80 series picks up the trend and in the golden bubble of the 90s cruiser sales are high and most of those sales are fully optioned

100 series takes that concept and ramps it up offering very few options but the SUV market starts to go down and very few people are buying land cruisers for anything but status

200 series is being build for people who actually need them elsewhere and while it no longer matters for US consumers the name is very valuable so its sold here as a niche market/halo vehicle which, to save costs and keep inventory low, is sold only one way.

That really is simple, select color and accessories that you can buy cheaper on ebay later.

My 4Runner has multi terrain, crawl control and KDSS. Its almost a LandCruiser! Ok, not really.
