Kinja'd!!!

With Chet Atkins playing on the stereo. This car was designed with maintenance in mind.

Best part: Mrs. O.C. sat in the garage and kept me company while she texted with our daughters who are away at college.

Life is very good.

Good to know in case I need to service mine sometime. I just bought an 87 camry wagon (5 speed manual!) for $325 over the weekend and was astounded when i discovered the AC blew cold. Aside from a 3/4-ass amateur rebuild of the drivers front side fender/bumper, and thoroughly worn suspension, it’s actually a decent car. All I had to do was put a set of good tires on the rear and replace some bulbs and i’m good to go. Couldn’t upload a pic but the ad is still up.

Rebuild the front struts with KYB Excel strut inserts and new top strut mounts. Do the same for the rear. Then tell me you’re not astounded by what a great car you have. Also, I’d suggest you replace the timing belt, water pump, tensioner. Comes in a kit. Consider draining the transaxle and filling with Red Line MTL (Manual Transmission Lubricant). There are a couple of different viscosities of that oil, so contact Red Line and check which one they recommend. That stuff will take ten years off the transaxle.

That era Camry is truly from the Golden Age of Toyota. I own the ‘89 Camry and a ‘91 Corolla. Fine, fine automobiles.

And congratulations on your score!

Sorry I didn’t see this earlier thanks! If this ends up sitting more than driving ill probably replace struts ( it does bang over bumps ) and do the timing belt and fix the oil leak it has. Thanks!

The banging can come from worn-out top strut mounts.
