I’ve got tonight to do, then I’ve three nights off, in Saturday night and then off for six.

Got a colleague’s car to clean tomorrow which will be nice.

Unfortunately I’ve nothing to clean on Piglet.

For the fourth times in five weeks there has been a few bird bombs on her, and I’ve thought, ‘yay, get the pressure washer and kit out tomorrow’, only for it to rain and all trace of the bird bombs be removed. So other than a little brake dust on the front wheels there’s nothing to ruddy clean.

Piglet on her dirtiest day in the last two or so months for your time.

Kinja'd!!!

Which only took a few minutes to wash and dry.

That’s Piglet at her dirtiest? Oh my, her dirty is Tucker’s “almost time for a car wash”. :D

Also, have you read my thread about my car getting egged? What’s the best way to fix the damage?

I didn’t, sorry. I’d start off with a prewash of desgreaser on the egg spots, allow to dwell then pressure wash off. Then onto a full wash and see what you have left.

Birds eat gravel to make harder shells so you may have a mass of very small chips in the clearcote, these will polish out.

It’s okay! :P :)

I have dozens of pinhole-sized nicks in the paint, thankfully most of them just in the clear, but there are about 10 or so that go down to the metal...Thankfully the car has absurdly good rust protection. I’ve never done a touch-up job before so I’m a little scared.

As clean as it will ever get.

Steps: 1. hand wash (light hand) 2. Tar removal with goo gone. 3. Hand wash #2 4. Polish 5. Hand wash #3 and finally 6. Wax.

I did it by zone starting with the roof, then hood, rear deck then rear bumper, then doors and finally front fenders and front bumper. Shit was dirty yo.

When you go to touch up the chips.

Mix 60% paint and 40% lacquer, don’t use a brush but use a cocktail stick and stiple it on, building up the area.

I pressure rinse, then prewash, rinse, then two bucket wash, rinse, then de-tar, rinse, de-iron (if necessary), rinse, rewash, rinse, seal, activate sealant with pressurised water, dry with drying aid.

I tried to attach a photo earlier. I have never had tar on my car before that was a new one. I do have a pressure washer and need to use it more. Also I’m not familiar with having to “activate sealant” I thought once the wax was on it was on and you just went with it.

There are sealant sprays (usually Si02 based) and waxes. Some sealants like CarPro Hydro2lite, Gyeon Wetcoat, etc... use pressurised water to separate the product from it’s carrier.

It’s great as while the car is still wet, you spray on the product (for me Gyeon Wetcoat) and pressure rinse then dry, but I use Gyeon Cure as you can use it as a drying aid and also adds an extra layer of sealant at the same time.

A lot of people in the U.S. Use clay to remove tar, but a good tar and glue remover such as Autofinesse ObliTARate is a spray on, let dwell (but not dry) and then wipe off. With claying too much there is a risk of micromarring the surface which then needs polished to bring it back.
