I can’t think that using BMW electronics is not the best idea Toyota could have had (and I love BMW’s and have an i3).

Yeah love it, never fails to make me smile when I plant the throttle and all those instant torques kick in. Plus it is a generally great little car, perfect for what my partner needs it for. Also it is leased and not my headache once out of warranty!

That’s good to hear! The leases and even used sale prices are dirt cheap, it’s a very tempting commuter...

Given the general high-tech-iness of the hybrid powertrain, I’m ok with this, as long as the transmission is a good automatic. BMW does an excellent job with their calibration of the ZF 8-speed so I’m not worried.

Flash forward another 10 years:

“Why buy a Honda Accord when you can buy this old ass BMW Supra?”

It the most stress free car for commuting to work (so my partner tells me), it’s so good in traffic, great for pulling out on to roads quickly and darting in to spaces etc and it is very comfy with an interior that is just lovely to be in.

So the original Supra was a car that delivered an engaging driving experience with Toyota reliability. This thing will deliver neither. Sounds great. Good job, Toyota. You really know what your customers want.
