I don’t get why they popped the hood before taking the picture. I mean, the safety tab popped out doesn’t lie - somebody deliberately popped the hood.

The fuel injection system is kind of janky and some of the electrics will be gremliny, you may have to replace some vacuum servos to get the A/C working, and the driver’s seat may be slightly collapsed. May be about due its first trans rebuild. That’s all I’ve got.

I suspect the seller doesn’t know how to close these old hoods properly (same issue can happen on W126) - you have to apply pressure evenly when closing. It appears the passenger side is lower, probably/hopefully just user error. I think that might have made the tab pop out. Either that or they popped it like you mention.

It looks intact and not messed with. If it runs without smoke, leaks, and it shifts, nice car for the money.

Because the transmission will give up. And the rockers will have rust. And the door locks won’t work. And the AC needs more than just a charge. Other than that, they are perfect places to spend all of your money.

It appears to be a mostly solid, if lightly optioned beige mercedes. It does have the rear seats but the whole thing is mb tex. If memory serves 1993 is the start of the biodegradable wiring harness shenanigans. So this may or may not have that. The missing speaker cover is odd and the single replacememt fog light cover bugs me.

Other than that, 148k gets into the when not if timeframe of doing a head gasket. And then you get into the other 25 year old car problems.

There are no responsible adults on Oppo to answer that for you.

While I will not get this one for reasons (but plan on being in a wagon soonish) is it good or bad that I wouldn’t care about failed locks and ac? I grew up with parents who bought GM products that both of those things habitually happened to, so I don’t really care about them.

Ha, I hear you. It’s just frustrating (in my experience) to get a car and have the functions not function. I have had 3 1980's vintage Mercedes and while cool cars, they are way fiddly and love your money. I had a 1985 300CD, a 1988 190e and the crown jewel was a 1987 300D.

Get a 1998 Volvo V70 (GLT or T5) and you will be happy. Easy to work on, loads of forum support and fun to drive with a few simple mods. Plus there are a million of them. Good luck!!
