You’re paying cash for that ? I felt dirty for paying off a Senator (that fits your name) last week, cash, and that cost a fraction of a Megane RS 265.

German public transportation is indeed a ripoff. It can be cheaper to rent a car, especially if you don’t travel alone. I guess it’s due to their automotive industry.

Now I remember why I don’t like public transportation: slow and expensive.

Leaving for Germany next Tuesday, for 2 weeks, to visit our company’s HQ, all work related stuff. But every time I travel there, I am blow away by the public transportation. About 1/3 of my coworkers over there, at least the younger folks, don’t even own a car because of how great the public transportation is. It’s the only time I have ever traveled for work that I lose weight, because I walk everywhere. 15 minute walk to the train, 10 minute train ride, 10 minute walk to the office.

I pay about 40€ and almost 4 hours for a what would cost me 15€ and 2 hours with a car

I guess we Europeans are a bit spoiled. When I visited the US last year (all New England states) I laughed when I saw the state of Boston public transportation. It turned out to be relatively good in comparison... I had to quickly learn you NEED a car for EVERYTHING, there’s no walking to the (whatever), you always take the car. Quite inconvenient.

Anyway, as you’re in Germany for two weeks starting next week, can I ask where in Germany? You might want to join our group on our oppo Alps cruise/rally June 23-25. Starting close to Munich. I might’ve asked this before, but my memory is like Swiss Cheese.

The one time I ever took a longish distance bus ride (125 miles), was when I sold one vehicle and had to go pick up another. By the end of that 5-1/2 hour odyssey, I was getting ready to smash a window out and jump from the moving bus onto the highway.

Oh yeah, as bad as Boston is, it is one of the better ones. Most cities have awful coverage. New York is pretty well served but everything else is an embarrassment. I live in Houston, which is the 4th largest city in the country, and aside from buses, or only transit consists of three light rail lines, one of which is extremely short.
