I’m pretty sure I would have this truck

Kinja'd!!!

I mean , minus the blown up Birfield that got it towed in... There’s a green ‘96 on Craigslist that looks really good for $5k, wish I could grab it.

I started living my best life when I started driving these garbage things.

Kinja'd!!!

Utilitarian, reasonably cheap to maintain, wicked towing capacity, and fairly quick in the supercharged form that I’ve become addicted to. Oh, the back seats fold flat so, you can live in the back of it of you wanted.

I really like Xterras, I regret not grabbing a manual one with a bad trans for $5k that I had a line on about 10 years ago. Cool trucks, I’d drive one.

I love ‘em. I’ve never encountered anything with worse fuel mileage. But I guess that’s the price you pay for a (fairly) modern 4x4 built on a 40 year old chassis with an (at the time) 20 year old V6 that had a supercharger bolted to it. The thing’ll go like snot, pull you out of anything, tow double what it’s rated to, and it’ll never let you down. But again, it’s probably the single least economical vehicle in terms of fuel economy.

My current 4wd gets 14mpg on a good day, so that’s not the end of the world. I don’t daily it.

What are you driving right now?

Also on an unrelated note, I noticed you’re into some slightly obscure diecasts. Love it.

‘95 F150 5.0. It’s a pig but I’ve always liked them. And yeah, obscure isn’t the half of it when it comes to toy cars, 1/43 Le Mans cars in particular have become a slight obsession.

Blown birfield isn’t really too bad to repair. I rebuilt both of my knuckles and swapped birfields. This part blowing usually means that the wiper seals were bad and let the grease out or that the axle seal let go and the diff oil washed out the knuckle.

But yes, that one looks pretty sweet.
