I’ve been doing some shakedown runs around the neighborhood. The car runs pretty good, and sounds awesome, but the idle is a little low and choppy with the cam. I bought a special plate that goes between the IAC valve and the TB that’s supposed to fix it, I’ll put that on tonight. Wednesday it goes in for a front end alignment, hopefully they won’t give me grief for my modifications.
My solution for Fox cup holders
Next I need to make a bikini top and decide if I want to put a Martini racing stripe on it, I think it would look awesome next to the 68.

I desperately need to get those cupholders for my fox. My girlfriend managed to spill Baja Blast all over the center console...

This is one of those projects that a lot of people dream about but never actually do. Kudos for getting her almost finished and on the road.

I haven’t tested them out yet, but I think they will be ok. Search for folding cup holder on amazon, they were around $8. You might not want to screw them directly into the dash like I did, but yolo.

With all that suspension travel does it rock about as you drive around like a trophy truck?

Any engine swap plans for this one?
Since the other stang is Toyota, this one should be Honda powered. If not a Jeep 4.0 should fit.

I wish. It’s actually pretty stiff, it has stock springs and shocks/struts. If I decide to keep it I will probably devise a more compliant suspension setup. The rear will be fairly easy. Up front, I’ve thought about swapping in the front half of a 2WD ranger frame, so I would have all the correct suspension pick up points and just buy stuff off the shelf. Maybe I could take it to a local fab shop and they could build me a double a-arm setup with coil overs or something, but I’m sure that would cost more that I have into the whole thing.
Honestly I’ll probably end up parting it out for pennies on the dollar, cry for a few months, then start something new. That’s kind of how I am, I get this idea and think about it all the time, almost every little detail. I HAVE to build it just to get it out of my head so I can stop thinking about it. Once I do... whats next? :)

Original plan was a Nissan VQ. I found a decent deal on the 5.0 so I swapped that in, thinking it would be easier. I’m not convinced it was. Minus not having to make motor mounts (easy) it was still an ass pain.
I don’t see myself keeping this thing for a long time.
I could pull the 2J from the 68 and sell it. Then put this 5.0 in the 68, and sell that car with a V8 (nobody would buy it with the 2J). Then part out 91, sell the body to the wrecking yard. Take the $8K I would make from the whole deal and start building bird houses or something less expensive.

That sounds like a terrible plan. Keep them both and have a lot of fun.

Would it ok to use your photos to write an article on your new Mustang project?
