The blisters on Graham Rahal’s hands during the red flag of the Detroit Grand Prix race 2 this afternoon??

IndyCar drivers are absolutely extremely tough athletes. You cannot convince me otherwise.

The second gen driver from Ohio won both races this weekend. First repeat winner all season. Helluva drive both days.

Tony has been a fitness freak his entire career. But he’s also not the only driver I’ve heard of doing things like competing in triathlons and then turns around and says it’s necessary fitness to drive his race car...

For the record, I love me some Tony Kanaan. One of the most likable guys in the entire IndyCar field. Awesome sense of humor and generally puts on a good show on the track, especially at Indy.

Most triathletes could work on their upper body aesthetics tbh

Unfortunately I was doing family stuff and missed both races. People who insist their just driving around in circles and anybody could do it, are complete idiots. The physical and mental stamina it takes to muscle around an IndyCar with no power steering, with the extreme G-forces, speeds, and heat that they deal with is at a level that normal people can never comprehend. If I could wedge myself into an IndyCar (I couldn’t), and if I could manage to keep it out of the wall (again, nope), I guarantee I would be completely exhausted after two laps.

This exactly. Well said.

Also, major props to Dixon for driving this weekend after getting all busted up with that huge shunt at Indy. What a beast.

Yeah, definitely. I watched that accident live (I sit in the exit of turn 1 at the 500 every year), and was pretty sure I’d just watched him die. It was by far the scariest crash I’ve ever witnessed in person.
