is getting really nice.

Topstitched MB-Tex upper dash & doors, quilted saddle leather, wood steering wheel... this is checking all my boxes. I love customization.

You pay for it, though. This build - C300 4matic with Sport Package and designo leather - came to $51,990, and (aside from the interior) that’s going rather light on the options.

Someone please order this so I can buy it for 1/3 the price in four years.

That’s gorgeous - and about how I’d spec it out, too.

Around me, though, the MB sedans (ex S class) and SUVS are almost all MB-TEX unless you step up to the more powerful engines - and that gets really pricey.

Definitely a custom order car -

Oh, I love the new C, and I never cared for it before. That saddle interior would go perfectly with a bright blue paint job.

Merc stepped up their game big time over the last few years. The difference between the new C class and the last gen is HUGE.

But for dat saddle () I’d be fine with MB-Tex... imo it’s the best synthetic leather in the business. I’ve seen W123s from the 80s with MB-Tex interiors that still look brand new. The stuff is durable.

That interior was ridiculous for the money they charged for them. A mid spec Golf rivalled it.

Oh, no question that you’re right about that. And if anything, the MB-TEX is probably sturdier around kids, etc.

My last car came down to an E350 with MB-TEX or a GS350. Ended up with the latter because I liked the driving dynamics a little better and there were some deals available that made it quite a bit cheaper, but I liked the E class, too.

It is awful. There’s a reason the S Class looks like this.

Ok, ignore the clown face.

I’m glad Mercedes appears at least on the outside to be bringing the C back up market, but I can’t forgive them for moving production to Alabama. Granted I won’t be buying a Mercedes off the lot for a few years (I hope it’s only a few years), but it makes me sad they’re watering down the brand like that with a core product.

The 204(?) was still lightyears better that utter piece of shit they called the 203.

I think a lot of that has to do is they’ve introduced the CLA and GLA so they don’t need to make the C as cheap anymore.
