A couple of questions for you guys:

Kinja'd!!!

Does anyone know what this blue strip under my driver’s side floor mat is? The wiring comes out from under the seat, and ends in this long strip. (All I can even think of is that it is a thermometer, but its a complete guess.)

My second question has to do with aftermarket back-up cameras. A previous owner installed a Carrozzeria system, but it doesn’t turn on. I’m wondering where the most likely place for the problem is?

Is there an aftermarket switch or just a clip on a wire to tell the system the car is in reverse with these sort of systems?

I don’t have $300 to let someone here repair it, and I’m not certain I want to invest that sort of money into a system without bluetooth anyway as it isn’t so much more for a new (similar) system.

Well, it’s a 2006, so I don’t think it’s so new... unless you compare it to a Beetle from the 60s.

Could it maybe be some pressure sensor to sense seat occupation, which has been removed by a previous owner and tucked under the mat? Maybe the previous owner didn’t like the no seatbelt chime, so wanted to get it out the way easily. (Just guessing)

Almost positive that’s not factory. Aftermarket stuff is often really strange so it’s hard to say what it might be.

An inline fuse maybe

I agree with AMGtech that the blue wire is most likely aftermarket, therefore it’s anyone’s guess what the hell it is.

For the back up camera? I suppose it’s possible, but I think the dealer would have fixed that instead of making it someone else’s problem. Maybe not though, they wanted to charge an extra $300 for a detailing, and only did a quick spray down wash of the outside.

That’s what I was afraid of.

Hmmm... that’s a possibility.

Could it be a ‘bar’ antenna? The dvd player says it has tv stations so maybe it was supposed to be along the top of the windshield or rear window?

A back up camera, or an external GPS of some sort. It looks aftermarket so it’s hard to tell.

Honestly without knowing where it leads I have no idea. I wouldn’t worry about it unless you have a problem. Or you can take the radio out to try and trace it.

Yep, I was just hoping for a quick answer with no tracing of wires. Oh well.
