Wait, did it actually bend because of that? Because, uh, I don’t know how to put this, but... that would make it a piece of shit.

They bend so when you’re in a crash the impact forces spread throughout the bar and into the frame, causing the centrifugal gravitatas to heighten your rorschach survival rate-ability.

Naw but seriously it’s sturdy. Very overbuilt in fact.

Real American rollbars for your Japanese car.

I know how roll bars work, because race cars. They have saved my friend’s lives. But if it bent just because you (or whoever that is) put half their body weight on it, you’re going to have a bad time.

100% joking. No, definitely didn’t bend just from body weight. Got it along with door bars to potentially save me if I went down a mountain side on a hill climb, or someone hit me on the street.

Ah ok, good. Hard to tell on this here intertubes machine, especially when both sides have apparently had a couple of adult beverages... ;)

There are a lot of half-assed “roll bars” out there that I hate with all possible prejudice, I’m serious that good roll structures have saved friend’s lives, so I feel rather passionately about it. And for the way you use that car, properly, you of course need for-real roll protection.

It’s absolutely terrifying. I Googled “PVCRollbar”

Poof, just like that, my remaining, final thread of faith in humanity is gone. I’m now a nihilist, just because of PVC rollbar guy.

“Real American rollbar for my Japanese car with an Italian engine” is exactly what I’ll be able to say when our Blackbird Rollbar shows up for the Fiata (and for the ND)! Soon can’t come quickly enough...

That’s too perfect. I hope you went for a custom color!

Also, is the ND fully recovered from the accident?

The ND’s rollbar is being custom color matched to the Ceramic Metallic paint. She seems to have recovered just fine from the accident, and the dealer did an amazing repair. No signs of a repair, no quirks or rattles or random oddities. Drives just like she did when she was brand new. I couldn’t be any happier or more impressed with the dealer’s work.

The Fiat is getting a silver rollbar, nothing terribly special. I’ll wrap it in the future whenever I (or we) can decided on a color to wrap it in.
