I agree with Mrs. Clinton, but DNC’s mistake was Mrs. Clinton herself. And out-of-touch liberal elitism. Trump’s hardcore base doesn’t care a whit about what Trump does; they just wanna poke Liberals in the eye, and I can’t say I blame them. I was having a conversation with a group yesterday about what it would take to make the hardcore right denounce a Republican president. And honestly... Couldn’t really come up with anything. You have any ideas? Maybe try to ban guns and come out as a gay atheist..? Trump has done plenty that goes against what his voters want, and stand for. It just seems like in their eyes, no matter what he does there is zero chance of him being worse than a liberal. It’s a really sad situation all around

I can’t disagree with this assessment. I thought they were complete fools to run her and I’m still a bit shocked. I’d expect the RNC to have superdelegates, not the DNC. Obviously, they’re both garbage and neither party actually represents the US people.

Liberals have co-opted civility for political gain. Think about that statement. Now, anyone who hates Liberals thinks un -civility is the alternative. As a [relative] Liberal myself, I put the blame squarely upon the Liberal [lack of] leadership.
At table last weekend with some inlaws who are happy to sit around and complain about Donald Trump -- which is precisely how he wants Liberals to be spending their time — I pointed out that the real blame lies with the DNC and that ended the conversation. So while my inlaws, whom I love, are ardent Liberals, that the conversation ended shows that they are capable of rational thought.

You’ve already lost international respectability. US politics, Trump primarily, has become a laughing stock globally. People internationally still differentiate between Trump and the US as a whole, but I wonder how long that nuance will survive. International trade with the US might collapse. We’ll all suffer the consequences, but the US the most.

I think it’s been a good thread.
I think the “chances” to look at on Earth are the chances that you are born in a place where there are any natural resources.
Even as a small child I used to imagine the entire universe as a sort of dark -- space as I saw it being like the night sky -- blob about the size of a baseball taking up a small part of a shoe box in some vastly larger space. As if the shoe box containing our universe were sitting on a dining room table somewhere.
