Kinja'd!!!

Do online sales personnel at dealers not read emails?

I’ve sent a couple back and forth emails over an LS430 simply asking what color it is. It’s been 3 emails with no answer to my question, but I have been asked if I was interested in servicing, new cars, and leasing.

Have a nice LS430 for looking at my mini rant.

That most likely means they don’t have the car, or don’t want to tell you about it unless you show up in person. So annoying, but a lot of dealers are like that.

I once had an online sales manager at a dealer 3 hours away from me respond to me saying I’m 3 hours away and want to sort out as many details as possible ahead of time by email, with,

“When can you talk on the phone? I prefer to talk on the phone.”

You are the ONLINE sales manager, fucking email me dammit.

THIS!!! I had the same exact situation happen 3 months ago. Guy was super insistent about calling me. If I wanted to talk over the phone, I would’ve called.

I had this same problem a week ago. All I asked for were picture since there weren’t any. He insisted on “all I need is to talk to you for 15 minutes.” I told him I’ll find another dealership

I’ve had that, but also the opposite, where they won’t stop emailing me.

Small survey results: Just bought a Transit by emailing 12 dealers. 4 never responded. 4 ignored my request for info and wanted to talk to me or me to come in. 2 responded but slow. 2 responded promptly and did what I asked.

Before this, I went to one of the dealers to kick tires and test drive. That “Internet Salesperson” kept emailing and bugging me. A month later I finally sent out the group email saying I’m ready to buy but only by email. That guy with the constant “are you ready to buy yet?” emails; he suddenly stopped emailing! WTF? Alternative universe of how to sell!

So I’m not surprised at your experience.

I had similar issue with tires this week.

Luckily it’s being resolved right now.

I’ve had both good and bad. Ten bad where they tell you we can talk about the options when you come in.... yeah you missed the boat, dummy. Then I’ve had the good where they respond within the day, or two on the weekend, work out all the figures and in one instance they arranged to drop off a vehicle for my wife and I to test drive over the weekend. You have won my business. Thank you for playing. I also had a dealer text me back on a Sunday night within five minutes of me texting through the web portal. I was stunned. We setup a time to stop by to test drive and chatted for a bit. I really wish I had liked the odyssey over the Pacifica, cause this guy also was a great salesman and a car guy too. His daily was a civic si. He knew that if he didn’t get back and strike while I was looking, then I’d have moved into the next dealer. This guy got it. The other good experience was at a dodge dealer, the internet guy gave me the pricing info and setup a time for me to test drive all over email. His pricing was best around and he knew it, as they were a volume dealer and didn’t dick around with big markups. It was another nice dealership experience, no pressure, and very pleasant. Those guys get it, and they don’t understand how the other salesman don’t get it. So there are some good ones out there.

OH MY GOD THIS. I asked a dealer how much their Raptor is and they invite me to go in three times, ask to bring me the car twice to see it, and then ask if I want dinner with the car’s mother and then send me an email going like “Did we answer your question?”

The damn nerve.
