Yesterday was the last day of school. Unfortunately, because I’m a department chair, I had to go back today for a 7-1/2 hour marathon of a meeting... complete with a working lunch. Let me just say this: I analyzed the shit out of that Math data. I was trying not to fall asleep the entire time, despite the fact that I continuously drank black coffee for 6-1/2 of those hours until my body demanded some water.
But none of that matters anymore, because I have a little over two months off now!! Fuck yeah!!!!

Lucky, exams next week for us then the dreaded end of school meetings the following week. Thankfully our division head hates useless meetings with a passion.

Well, we start pretty early. We’re going to start even earlier this year, but we’ll be done before Memorial Day next year if we don’t have any snow days.
Today was our “school improvement meeting,” so all the building department chairs and team leaders had to be there. Ugh!

Ah we don’t officially start class until after labor day, but graduation is always memorial day weekend the underclassmen are stuck with the extra two weeks.

Watch the girls three days a week and work on the house the other two (they’re still in daycare two days a week for the summer). This year I need to do some landscaping, and replace the soffits, facia, and siding on the second floor dormer. I should paint the whole house, but I at least need to do the window trims.
I’m also taking an online grad class. That’ll be the last one of those I have to take for a while.

I think its a private school thing but I like it. Our week of meetings is two weeks before school starts, the week between our meetings and day 1 is the week of new student orientation and AP jumpstart.
Basically any new to the school students are on campus for a couple days meeting their teachers and get brought up to speed on our academic expectations and policies. AP teachers get each of their classes for 3 hours during this week to deal with summer assignment/review stuff so that new material starts on day one. I can go over the summer assignment, do a few activities to get used to what I want and do the dread syllabus day all before the first day of school.
