It’s pretty cool to drive, but I will say that the stock shifter is a little rubbery for my taste. Then again, my Beetle had a Spulen short shifter kit that was as right as it would let me make it.

Manual parking brake and all. I thought they all had gone with electric parking brakes, although I don’t keep up to date with BMWs.

Exact same comment I have with my 3-series shifter. I was told switching it to the M-Sport one makes a huge difference:
Seriously considering it, but it’s not exactly cheap... like $150.

A knob won’t fix it. It would have to be the assembly.

Well one difference is the M-Sport knob is weighted vs the standard knob, which some people claim it makes a difference already. Definitely replacing it with a short shifter would feel much more different.
