My first car was an ‘85 190E so I have a deep seated desire for the upper echelon versions of that car. 2.3 16v, Cosworth, Evo, Evo 2, AMG...

The car had an impressive performance line up.

I usually like monoblocks, but they’re just wrong here.

Also, I test-drove one imported from Japan last fall, thought about it for 36 hours, and was literally in the act of going back and forth on price with the seller via text message when somebody in yet another country (who had also been interested at the same time) just plain transferred the asking price into the seller’s bank account sight unseen, thus beating me to it. That car has gone nearly around the world: Germany to the U.S. and then back to Europe.
