my 1999 corvette has an equivalent of a coaster. One.... coaster.

This isn’t mine, but directly to the right of the shifter, that covers pops up and reveals about 1/4 inch deep cavity you ought to be able to place your drink into.

Corvette. With 350 HP stock. Manual. Yeah, that will hold a big gulp for sure.

I like the idea of no cupholders. A car is not a dining room.

The other day I spilt coke on myself because I was on the phone with my right hand, and steering/holding a can of coke with my left. I needed to turn, the can came with my hand.

I am not a smart man. But this could have been avoided if my 80s era Japanese car had cupholders.

Not gonna lie, I did this with a bottle of soda once. I had the top in one hand and had been steering with that hand, and the bottle in the other since I’d stopped to wait for a turn. I went to turn and then realized I needed two hands to turn the wheel far enough. Had a split second choice between going up on the sidewalk or dumping soda all over myself. I even had cupholders, I was just an idiot.

I had a similar choice, either go wide and look like I’m drunk or get my pants a bit sticky.

Our 1985 Toyota Cressida had indents inside the glovebox door that looked like they were meant for drinks, kind of like what you see on airline tables.

Ironically my dad kept his Snapple bottles shoved between the passenger seat and the center console.

Correction: 80s/90s Japan. My MR2 has no cupholders, but either did my Pulsar or 300ZXs either. I’ve never had a car with cupholders :(
