757-300. Long and lean with big engines.

I’ll be honest, the 757 is one of my least favorite jets to fly on.

I will take a 757 over any sketchy 20 year old Embraer

With a proper interior they are fine. The 737-8/9 annoy me.

Nah - it’s gotta be the smallest version with the biggest engines, the traditional hot rod recipe. American has the ‘B’ version of the RB211/535E4 on their -200s, which has several thousand pounds more thrust than any other 757 variant. This engine was chosen for hot and high operations in South America, but it makes the noise-abatement takeoff from SNA feel like a carrier shot - absolutely unreal, and a real kick in the backside.

I’d take a 757-200 over a 737-800/900 any day.
In fact, one trip to SMF, I deliberately connected via SLC, rather than the direct routing, so the largest part of the trip was on a 763, rather than the whole way to California on a 737-800.

I know a guy who chose to drop on the seniority list to drive a 757 instead of an A320

But the -900 with the big overhead bins though...

The bins are nice and can go in a 757 as well. The -900 suffers from weak A/C packs and it is too much plane for the brakes and tires.

The 757 in all its iterations just presses all the right buttons. Gives me the James May fizz feeling.

The trick for not worrying about poor A/C is to not fly through ATL

Just got home from a quick turn trip to Boston. A321 > any Boeing narrow body.

A few years ago I mentioned to a guy I was flying with how much I like the 757. He gave me the perfect explanation, the 757 is the skinny girl with big boobs of the airline world. Truth.
