Kinja'd!!!

I would totally rock a last gen Thunderbird. They still look fresh as hell 15 years later and they tend to be in good condition because of the kinds of people who bought them. Although if I bought one some less blingy wheels would be in order.

I respect your choices, however much I may disagree with them.

Hardtop or nah?

Top down and cruise. It looks like a torpedo oozing down the street.

I would rock one of these if I wanted a car just for looks and not for any other function.

They are totally growing on me, not that I would ever buy one though.

I’m not even mad. I sortakinda like em.

T-Bird anecdote: The other day my friend and I were driving and we saw a T-bird from the generation before this one (mid 90's.) My friend made a remark about them being pieces of junk. I concurred. Then I was like “Can you imagine if that car had been built by Nissan? A 200+ HP RWD M/T coupe from the mid 90's would be awesome! but...you know...we ignore them because they’re fords. And pieces of junk.”

Contact your doctor if your torpedo is oozing.

They were hella kitschy when new but they’ve grown into their styling and are starting to get cool. They really stand out among today’s overly fussy designs.

Yes, I could definitely see them being a future classic.

I’ve wanted to rat-rod one out for a while now. Matte black with some striping, dropped an inch or 2, metal visors over the headlights, white top. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaant.

I’ve always liked these. Would absolutely rock one in spite of the haters.

There’s an old guy near me that has two identical ones. He also has two identical Mazdaspeed Miatas and an SSR. Among several other wacky cars. They do actually look good, but I’m pretty sure they suffer from an early 2000s plastic-fantastic interior.

Me too. But I bet the things I’d do with it would nuke that CVT. Future classic I think! Deeply strange and one of the better retro inspired cars from this era.

Unfortunately, for a car with zero sporting or true luxury pretenses, these things go for astronomical amounts of cash. They’re somewhat rare simply because so many got traded back in after a year or two and have been bouncing back and forth between dealerships ever since. My grandfather had one for 9 months, build quality is pretty terrible and they are an absolute boat, and not in the good “comfy Cadillac of the 60's” way either.

This would all be fine if it was priced accordingly. At $6-8000 (at most) this could be an awesome cruiser with a unique style you can’t get from any other modern cars. But most of these are going for $15-20,000! For a 15 year old Ford that isn’t a truck or special Mustang. Yikes

Can confirm. Surprisingly these were put together worse than the Mustang of that era. Interior pieces breaking off and seat material coming apart was a common issue

It didn’t have a CVT. Had a five speed auto. Same unit that was in the ‘05-’10 Mustang.

The Thunderpidgeon was a bit garish, but it has its identity I guess.

I don’t know why people would have last gen over a Turbo Coupé though, it looks a lot better to me.
