My sister had one of these in green. The bike was nice.

The bike was a helluva lot faster, too. We used to joke they gave you the bike for the same reason they gave you a spare tire.

But which consumes the most oil?

Does lard count as oil? Trek is a Wisconsin company.

Trek used to do some cool stuff. My dad bought one of these when I worked at the shop.
it was a full carbon frame where the rear stays acted like a leaf spring so you could get 1.5 inches of rear suspension travel without having the weight and inefficiencies of a pivot. It certainly didn’t ride like a full suspension but it certainly took the edge off.

A red Jetta VR6 like that was the very first car I ever rode in.

I have two Treks.
X0-1 Cyclocross bike. They made a matte black for a couple years, but I couldn’t ever find one, so I wound up with this gold one. The black would have matched the car better.
I also have this old green 7000 mountain bike.
And no, I only have pictures of them on the car.

Those “soft tail” bikes were pretty funky!

Yeah, Kinda worst of both worlds. Though it is a very light bike and it did take the edge off. Truthfully a better solution was the 29er or wider tires, but still.

I only ride downhill now (I’m fat and lazy) so I’m a bit out of the loop, but it seems like 29" bikes have taken over that singletrack/XC in-between market. My brother sold me his freeride rig so he could buy his 29".

They have an amazing factory and if you’re ever in the area, go take a free tour.
