Was out riding my bike and got hit by someone texting and driving. Luckily I am fine. My riding gear, helmet, gloves, armored jacket, pants and boots helped some.
But the worst is done to my poor bike. My right knee is bleeding but im at the hospital getting it looked at.
I took the stupid bitches phone and threw it. Even after she got out she kept texting with it. Another wonderful lady, saw it all and told the cop what happened.
The girl whined to the cops about me throwing her phone the cop said it wasnt his problem. He then told me I shouldn’t have done it but its understandable.
The girl was 17, driving mommy’s car. Which now has a GSXR rear wheel in the front bumper.
I was on my way to sell it to a guy so I could buy my next bike, which is on order at the dealership. The buyer just said he’ll find another and hope I get better.
Well its a dual PSA,hang the fuck up and drive, and riding gear can really help.

That’s why I won’t ride on metro Seattle/Vancouver/Portland area streets anymore. Not worth the risk, I’ve had too many close calls and seen too many incidents. We have a new law about phone holding too, which will be enforced with the same zeal as crosswalk and turn signal laws (read: not at all).

I’m of the opinion that texting while driving (or more generally, driving while distracted) really should be punished as follows:
1st offense: Moving violation, $1000 fine.
2nd offense: Misdemeanor, $1000 fine and six month license suspension.
3rd offense: Felony conviction, $10,000 fine or one year in jail plus license revocation.
Any offense which results in serious bodily injury or death: Felony, $10,000 fine or up to 2 years in jail plus license revocation.
Sure people are going to say it’s harsh, but that’s the damn point ! You make a conscious decision to pick up the phone and start texting with it.
Don’t want to fork out major cash to the government and have your driving license suspended or revoked? Then don’t fucking text behind the wheel of a car.

I particularly want to see more license revocations. Also, maybe there should also be a “shame list” at the county courthouse or on the local news of the people who get convicted of texting while driving.

My gixxer was blue and white. My CBR is black and red.
My next bike after the CBR will be a harley. That XR1200 almost made me buy it. The harley dealer by me has a beautiful one in this old school paint. Its someone who works there bike.

That’s my fear, I don’t want to have it end by being rear-ended by an airhead in a random CUV (it’d probably be a Lexus RX for me). Just too much risk here with dense traffic, lackluster enforcement, and many drivers who are either new to it or just unfit.

I’ve been in quite a few accidents.
Ive used most of my 9 lives. Had 3 back surgeries, a neck surgery, and my right hip.
Doesnt stop me though. Got a plum crazy charger hellcat and a soon to be black and red CBR.
My car accidents is what made me get riding gear. Made sure I was safe. Some money on gear was worth every penny.

I haven’t had more than a bumper scratch since I was 16, but I’ve been a passenger in a rough car crash. All bike stuff has been my own error, and always at low speeds when goofing off. But, my street riding days here are now going to be mostly limited to early weekend mornings, or the track. Too congested, too many distracted morons, not enough real enforcement. Until the LEO sector decides to use their golden discretion to go after these offenders, it is only going to get worse. We need more severe fines, and IMO, progressive fines.
I’ve had a couple AMG cars, but I am over it now - no fun idling in traffic sucking down the fuel. Maybe I am getting old. I’d like a new hypermotard, but I am otherwise fine with more gentle bikes like a Monster or SV.
I always laugh when people try to cut corners on a helmet.
