Saw this truck this weekend. Clifford Performance parts. Any comments? Looks a little like what my van’s engine compartment might wind up looking like, but there’s something that strikes me as slightly cheezy about all of this.

I will be very happy when the “patina”fad has passed. I like a good original vehicle too, but faking rust? That’s just stupid.

Common for people trying to get more power out of the 300-I6. The stock intake manifold doesn’t flow well, and a single carb can’t supply an equal fuel mixture to all 6 cylinders.. He upgraded the master cylinder to a dual reservior unit,(which is good, if there’s a component failure he won’t loose all the brakes). I could do without the chrome valve cover myself.

I have a clifford single 4 barrel intake on my 300. I would say use Offy unless you plan on going all Clifford parts. They make it so pretty much only their parts fit with their parts.

I am using the stock exhaust manifold (because turbo) and I had to grind and cut and file the intake to fit with it. Apparently it is a common thing for them to try to get you to buy their parts by doing this. Kinda pissed me off. But Offy intakes were on back order for like a year at the time I was looking.

The parts, mainly. I thought the Clifford stuff just looked kind of flimsy, somehow.

Interesting. My application is a ‘71 250 GMC. I haven’t been able to find a good Offenhauser source for that engine.

I am feeling more inclined to try this intake with a pair of 1-bbl Rochesters than the big dual quad Clifford setup.

Did you leave the engine otherwise stock? Cam, and so on? Did the carb gain you any performance or efficiency by itself?

It actually had a pretty nasty Crane Cam in it, I also upgraded the springs to doubles. Other than that, nothing.

I have the FiTech 600 power adder EFI soon mine. The difference is night and day coming from the old single barrel Webber. Runs better, starts easier, etc.
