The past couple years I have been competing in Tough Mudder runs. There is one this weekend in Michigan in Oxford. Anyone from here running in it? I’ll be running both days (unless my legs fall off...)

Collective fitness activities with cult-like trappings (CrossFit, Tough Mudder and its clones, SoulCycle, etc.) make me feel many negative emotions.
Getting all muddy with a bunch of
really enthusiastic
people and then drinking beer as a recovery drink is so unappealing to me that if you gave me the choice between that or accompanying my wife to the latest Magic Mike sequel, you’d see me at the movies.
But hey, don’t mind me, I’m just a grouchy workout introvert. Have fun!

Done 2 so far, 2012 and 2013. ‘13 kinda sucked since they had it at MIS, ‘12 was at a quarry in Ohio (that was more fun, though it was like 40 degrees out). Good luck, have fun, and hopefully its a better course then running around MIS’s parking lot.

Relax, I’m not shitting all over it. I didn’t say anything about Tough Mudder being objectively bad. I even said to have fun.
It’s the same as if someone had posted, “I’m eating tacos this weekend, who else is?” and I replied, “I really hate tacos, they make me itch, and don’t make any sense to me, all tortilla-related foods cause me to have a strong emotional reaction. But you enjoy your tacos!”

As someone who has been shit on (metaphorically) many times, I did not take it that way. Some people have different opinions and I respect that. It’s something I enjoy doing, was curious if anyone else was running too. Cheers!
