!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

This past Monday (Memorial Day) I attended a track event at my local race track - Heartland Park Topeka. The track had been closed for a few years but finally reopened with a freshly repaved surface.

I had so much fun! Everyone was very friendly and I met some great people. I took a little bit of helmet-mounted GoPro video. Sorry about the quality and the crap sound. The Ducati did well, and as always, is far more bike than I can fully utilize!

I was in the Novice group of riders, which only allows for passing on the straights. I think next time I make it out, I may try out the Intermediate group. That would allow for passing on the outside in corners if the need presents itself.

Near the end of the video, you can see the riding instructor (wearing a high-vis vest) totally leave me in the dust! I have so much to learn. :)

I still haven’t done a track event on my 748, but I have ridden it on the track.

I just got my timing belts in and I bought a cam locking tool. I need to do it some time soon. I just changed the oil, tensioned the chain, and did some general other maintenance on it so it’s ready to ride for the season!

Once you get that maintenance stuff out of the way you should go try out a full-on track day! It is wonderful. I want to go back so badly.

No thanks... My trackday monies are all dedicated to my M3.

I don’t have the time or desire to also do 2-wheel events.

I’ve have it for 8 years as of last month and I’ve been through a few timing belts and valve checking procedures

Yeah, I understand. At least you’re getting out to the track one way or the other.

I’ve been looking to get on track, but I think the st3 might look a bit out of its element!!

Also, kudos on the articles Mr. Practical, I always enjoy reading them!

Thank you! I think you would have a great time on your ST3. There were some guys out there on rather large bikes (BMW 850r comes to mind) and they were enjoying the heck out of it.
