Kinja'd!!!

The headlights were adjusted for the use on continental roads last Friday, yesterday I mounted them again. Looks way better now . Now I have to persuade the RWD (our DMV) to test it before the summer ends. The waitinglist is a month (!!!!) now? WHAT IS THIS?

Kinja'd!!!

Replaced the shocks up front as well. The tiniest shock I’ve seen in quite a while, C5 schock for measure behind it. It certainly was at it’s end: I could push it in and out with 2 fingers. Felt like a bicycle pump.

I’ve heard people talk about just showing up there and convincing them to do the inspection, not too sure how that turned out, I will ask that guy how that went down.

Have you also looked at other RDW stations? Sometimes waiting lists really differ between them.

Oh you haven’t seen Austin Mini shocks yet! :)

Awesome to see updates on the car like this haha

Yeah, I’m walking up to Nieuwegein’s RDW next Friday, it’s next to a customer of mine. I can drop the Pao there and have them call me if there’s a cancellation or something, not sure if they’ll accept it. I tried Roosendaal, Nieuwegein, Den Bosch, Zwijndrecht en Rijen. All a disaster...

Oh, I have! But those Mini shocks are really a long time ago, probably 20 years!

Now I’m looking for a pump for the wish/wash, any idea on what Micra that one was?

A pump for the wish/wash?? What the hell is that?? But whatever it is, it should come from a K10 Micra like every other mechanical part...

the little bugger that pulls the water out of the wish wash reservoir and get’s the water to the nozzles to spritz water on the windshield! Haha, how do the English name that?

Haha, I don’t know... Windshield water pump? If the one on the Pao broken? I have to admit I did not test that lol

It’s a windscreen washer pump. K10 Micra should be OK. You could try a scrapyard although there are probably few Micra bits this old left..

This has been on it for over two years now ;-)

Raar man. Hopelijk kun je de Pao snel op straat rijden.

Jeez, our DMV is terrible, but I’ve never had to wait a whole month. What a pain the ass. What are you supposed to do until then? What if you needed a car to get to work? Ridiculous. Have you gotten to drive it around a parking lot, or anything? Those shocks’ll make a big difference.

Kinja'd!!! "Jobjoris" (Jobjoris)
06/05/2017 at 04:35, STARS: 1

Haven’t tried it other than on Gerard’s incredibly small parking lot. Haven’t noticed any difference yet. Nor will I as I never made many kms with the old ones.

You can go without an appointment if it’s a EU import. For a non EU vehicle you need to have an appointment. It’s insane. Just hire more people damned!

Kinja'd!!! "Jonee" (Jonee)
06/05/2017 at 19:22, STARS: 1

That’s what I keep saying about our DMV’s. They even closed a bunch a couple years ago to make things worse. Do you need to see a specialist, or something?

Kinja'd!!! "Jobjoris" (Jobjoris)
06/06/2017 at 03:18, STARS: 1

Yeah, “there’s only a few RDW mechanics capable of testing non-EU imports.” ONE MONTH!!! If I’d want to use another test location it would be even more!

Kinja'd!!! "Jonee" (Jonee)
06/06/2017 at 22:51, STARS: 1

Huh. They must really check it over good, then. You actually would have to make an appointment for it to be inspected here, too, because it isn’t old enough to fly through. I’m not sure it would take a month to get the appointment, though. I think any police station will do it.

Kinja'd!!! "Jobjoris" (Jobjoris)

They do the inspection part. And, it’s only the Highway Patrol stations. You know them better as CHiPs.

Would be funny to see you taking the Fuldamobil to Highwaypatrol: as if you want to take it out on the highway!

How was that recent movie on C.H.I.P.S., seen it?

Kinja'd!!! "Jonee" (Jonee)
06/08/2017 at 22:31, STARS: 1

I will have to take it to them if I want to register it. They even have to drive it a little. I’ve had to do that before with my kei cars and it was an amusing experience. The guy who looked at my Mazda just said fuck it because he couldn’t figure out the weird 2-speed semi-automatic. He thought the car was hilarious. But, the ladies that inspected my 360 and my R2 didn’t bat an eye and went through the procedure like they were any other car.

06/09/2017 at 03:28, STARS: 1

It’s really odd to see that it still seems to matter who’s checking the car or bike. For my Ducati the guy testing it looked at the chassis number, then at me, then at the Ducati and signed a form. That’s it. You don’t want to know the hassle I had with the Dino...

Kinja'd!!! "Jonee" (Jonee)
06/12/2017 at 14:22, STARS: 1

Yeah, it totally depends on who you get at the DMV. What kind of hoops did they make you jump through for the Dino? Where did that car come from?

Oh, that new CHiPs movie was supposed to be dreadful. I’m pretending it didn’t happen.

Italy. It didn’t have seatbelts. These got mandatory here in ‘71. So I had to get that. But that I knew. It was the rear defroster that missed two “lines” working that killed my first application.

And the new Baywatch?

Kinja'd!!! "Jonee" (Jonee)
06/13/2017 at 13:04, STARS: 2

Wow, that’s a very picky inspection. Did the rest of the lines work? They really didn’t pass you for 2 of those strips being out? How did they test that? I have never ever had my defrost, front or back, inspected. They really look at every detail, huh?

Baywatch got the same reviews. I feel like it just came out and it’s already no longer in my local theater.

I think they did, it’s been over 15 year ago so my memory could be blurred a bit. And that inspector knew I’d never gonna take it for a spin in winter or rain.

I need to see both somehow. Sorry.

You should have told him it’s like that on purpose. Those are reserve strips.

Knowing you guys’ taste in comedy, I’m not surprised. I always liked that Starsky & Hutch comedy they did a bunch of years ago with Stiller and Owen Wilson. That was a funny movie. Snoop Dogg played Huggy Bear.

Hahaha, “the plane, the plane!” Awesome! Never seen this stuff. Hervé Villechaize is epic here. Ben is as well!

I need to see some of this stuff. Who’s the actress?

Kinja'd!!! "Jonee" (Jonee)
06/15/2017 at 03:00, STARS: 0

I love Hervé. He was a fascinating guy. I’ve always wanted to write a screenplay about him. It’d be tough to find an actor to play him, though. Not necessarily because of the height, but his accent is so distinctive.

It was called The Ben Stiller Show . It really was brilliant. It was a skit show. It only lasted one season, though, which is a shame. But, everyone on it became successful. Andy Dick, and that’s Jeneane Garafolo. She was in some movies and is a comedian. Looks like they’re all on Youtube.
