Planning on going there for the IMSA weekend and camping but don’t know much about the area. Any help from people who have been would be great.

Is there any free camping in close proximity to the track? With showers and bathrooms? What’s the best vantage point to watch the race from? Who else is going?

An aquantice rented a spot, but an issue with the camper meant we had to stay at his house 45 min away. there are some bathrooms and showers inside the cmping section. I don’t know about free campsites outside.

Last year they didn’t even check tickets (only 1/4 of the stands were full) at any of the stands so I walked all over. there are a number of spots along the camping section that you did’t need a stand ticket.

with this year planned I don’t think that will be the same.

I live there.

No real legitimate free camping but there is a KOA campground and the Watkins Glen State Park within very close proximity to the track (<10 min each).

My favorite spot to watch is inside of the Boot, mainly the Chute and the Toe but the Ninety is also very good. Not many places that aren’t worth going to and with 6 hours of racing on Sunday alone, there is plenty of time to move around.

I’m there every year, and feel free to ask any other questions about the track, town or area in general!

Trunk-during vintage weekend I’m right up the hill from you. Two camping spots at the toe.

If I buy a camping ticket, can I park my car there? I wouldn’t have a trailer or camper with it. Mainly the big this is I want to attend the full weekend. I just want to be able to shower and keep comfortable, you know?
