Diff problems, warped rotors, rear axle seals (if I remember correctly.)

Engine, trans are really solid.

The good thing about me searching for trucks for such a long time is that I know a little about pretty much all of the full sizers, haha.

I looked long and hard at these and the cons outweighed the pros it seems. Engine and trans are stout but the rear D44 is glass, front end is glass, brakes on the early ones are way undersized, and they all seemed pretty beat and high miles.

All I can add is beware the blend door actuators. Can take a day (or more depending on skill/luck) to pull the dash and repair.

I don’t have experience with the Titan as much, but I have several of the big NV vans that are based on the Titan in my work fleet. I’ve had both the V6 and V8 versions, and we put 40-60k miles on them per year.

Both engines and the 5-speed automatic have been reliable enough. I’ve yet to have diff problems yet but I’m watching them like a hawk. The catalytic converters fail like clockwork between 100-150k and there are 4 of them. 3 of the vans have had problems with the TPMS system that were wiring-related. The main thing I hate is that parts availability for these is a friggin’ joke. Literally every part I might need is guaranteed to be a 3-7 day wait, and the parts also cost 2-3 times what a Ford or GM would cost.

Don’t get an early Titan, the 04-07 had very bad reliability issues. The Nissan Titan’s got a bad reputation from those early years. 08 they fixed most the issues, but it still had a few problems. 09 on are pretty reliable, but by that time they already had a bad reputation.

Not sure what you want to use it for, but a long bed was not available on the Nissan titan. they made a 6 ft bed, which is typically a short bed, and a 4 ft bed, which is really almost useless if you intend to haul anything.

If you want to tow anything, the biggest issues associated with the Titan are overheating on the transmission and the axels. If the previous owners towed with the truck, it could be an issue waiting to bite, at least with the early ones. If you want to tow with the truck, avoid the early ones, or makes sure you get a transmission cooler right away.

The Titan does seem to be more popular as an off roader, which is generally not going to put to much heat into the transmission, so if your looking to off road, your probably safe with what ever you get. Although, if you get something early inquire about how they used it.
