I can find zero information about that gorgeous first one. The second was commissioned from a coach builder, but the buyer died before it was finished. Apparently Jag bought it and used it for a time as an support car for racing Mark 2s.

My neighbor has a gorgeous white Mark II. He’s got a heavy Scottish accent and when we were talking cars he said that he had an Estate that he lost in a garage fire. I’m just now realizing that he was most likely talking about another car! My dumb ass was thinking “Fuck, that’s rough losing a whole estate because of a garage fire.”

One of my favorite oddball facts is that while Ian Callum had nothing to do with the X-Type sedan, he did design the wagon, which I suspect has a lot to do with why the proportions look so much better.
