Bought a 1999 Corvette. Previous owner says everything is in working order except driver side window tilt in needs to be adjusted and AC compressor needs to be replaced.

Now I see HVAC control has no backlight.
Radio stopped working in my possession.
Pull Key out. Wait 10 seconds has been seen a few times.
Driver seat is torn a bit.

On the bright side -
Not a DD car.
Can live without radio.
AC compressor will be replaced eventually. Not that hot out yet.
Window adjustment will be made once the weather gets a little better. 44F out today.
Contemplating making a vanity plate pertaining to waiting 10 seconds issue - 10 second car?

The HVAC light thing is way known. There are companies out there that will change over the bulbs to LEDs. I had it done on mine, it was nice.

If you can swing it, replace your seats with seats from a C6 Z06. Before you install the seat, take the bottom apart and slip a bit of canvas or something (I used a cheap cloth placemat from target) across the wire springs to keep them from cutting into the foam.

The radio is junk anyway, pay for the double din mod if you need anything.

Thanks. Yeah. I see ebay has repair service offered for about 40-100 bucks for hvac lighting.

Radio I need to figure out - it might be a fuse or it might be junked radio. I hope for latter as that would mean there is no short in electrical. It was working when I got it. I was driving home and static was on so I turned the radio off. Never came back on.

Seats aren’t too too terrible yet. But that is a good idea with the spring buffer.

6 speed is a lot of fun. It has been soooooo long since I have a manual in my hands. I don’t even care if I fix all other issues.

If you have any questions, let me know. I know those cars as well as any GM trained mechanic at this point, I think.

Thanks. Appreciate it. I am going to enjoy wrenching on this car. There is no rush in getting it in order before the next work day.

It’s a damn shame I had to go to a house warming instead of the oppo rally this saturday. Would have been fun driving it around. Probably would have scored some points since I bought it off craigslist last week.

It should be fairly easy to pick up another stereo and wire it up I would think - instructions probably online somewhere! You can find any info on these cars online...

I would consider the HVAC lighting LED upgrade...fairly inexpensive to do and you wouldn’t have to worry about it again, plus you could have whatever color you want!

Yeah. I am probably going that route. Back light missing is annoying only at night. The display is working fine. I am guessing it’s just light bulbs burned out.

14k. 87k miles. I feel like I paid little more than I should have, but all others for sale are 17k and over.

Eh, you still ended up doing well from what I can see. Looks like you got it for $3k under market value with only $500 of extra repairs.

Yeah. This was always supposed to be my project car. fix this. wrench that. I dont care about repairs as long as the main bits stay put.

KBB and NADA claim this car is worth about 11k. so I am not sure about it being 3k under market value but I guess real market dictates market value, not some nerd’s statistics.

Edit: fixed the radio. The knob which you push to turn the power on and off was on the shaft too deep. The knob was pressing against the frame of the radio so pushing it did not activate the toggle switch. Pulled the knob off and pushed it back on. Viola. Radio works again.
