!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Spotify is good, but not good enough. Shouldn’t be too hard to find on vinyl.

If you pay for spotify premium (or pay for any other streaming service) then you get higher-bitrate music, if you’re not doing that already.

Also if you buy it on CD that’s uncompressed lossless audio. Sounds way, way better than MP3 or streaming.

I’m not here to start a CD vs. vinyl debate but a remastered CD taken from the original master could even sound better, or at least clearer, than the vinyl for some people. All personal taste though.

Steely Dan really has some amazing audio engineering and the tone on their guitars is awesome. The voice and drums are super tight and everything really blends. It’s definitely deserving of a proper medium and some great equipment for listening.

I’ve got premium, definitely worth it. I don’t actually have a working CD player, I’ve been looking for a good deal on a nice one. What I do have is a really nice turntable, with a good cartridge, so I generally steer towards vinyl. What I really want is enough space for one system that’s CD/digital focused, and one system for vinyl. My current system seems happiest with vinyl, likely because of a tube amp being involved.

Oh man I love the production quality of Steely Dan, the effort they put in is crazy.

I’m pretty sure you are limited to CD or standard vinyl. Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs made half-speed master copies on anti-static scratch resistant vinyl and ultra high quality CDs of Steely Dan Aja and Goucho but didn’t do Can’t Buy a Thrill. I have about 20 of the MFSL albums. My daughter took my copy of The Beatles Abbey Road remastered from Pauls copy of the recording. Whenever you are looking for good old vinyl search for theirs first. The quality is excellent, even used ones will likely play like new and not be warped because they are thicker and just all around better than most pressing. Both Hotel California and Dark Side of the Moon is even more awesome on their vinyl.

I have a mint original of this album and can confirm it is fantastic on vinyl through a good system.
