Spent all day working on it, did oil, battery, coolant, adjusted a bunch of minor shit, and now it runs and drives. Next step is to get the title sorted out - have to deal with a bonded title, but apparently that is pretty easy in Texas. Once I have that I’ll put some serious work into it, it badly needs brakes and a new starter (have to whack it every time). It takes a few feet to stop from 5mph...
It is not as slow as people say, at least not at slow speeds, I never went above 20mph. Not quick by any means, but I have driven slower cars (can’t think of any at the moment haha. rentals I guess?)

4M or auto? Either way, it’ll be next to indestructible if you take care of it, and it’s reasonably safe even compared to modern cars. Just keep your belt on. Mileage, photos posted elsewhere?

Since it’s over 25 years old, the DMV will set the bond value, so you’re at their mercy, but I doubt they will claim it is worth all that much. You’ll pay $15 there then you’ll have to purchase a bond. Here in TX you can’t just get an independent appraisal and then get the bond and bring it to the DMV. Anyway, after the DMV says you’re good, buy the bond. It’ll cost $100. If someone makes a claim on the bond, the bond company pays them and you’ll be on the hook with the company you bought the bond from to pay back the full amount. If not, wait 3 years and you’ll get a clear title. Since W123's last forever it’s probably a good be it’ll still be running then.
