As some of you have seen from the politics threads I post on here, I’m pretty liberal and I’m for an inclusive society.
That being said, how are we ever going to move forward as a society if people get crucified for a mistake, even if they apologize? All the piling on does is drive us further apart and make each side dig in and become more stubborn.
If you fuck up one time, realize you fucked up, and you apologize for said fuck up, the apology should be accepted and we should move on. Being intolerant of other people’s admitted mistakes on intolerance is hypocritical and not going to solve anything.

I agree with you in general, but in this case I have two issues with that.
1) His apology was terrible and insincere, like LBC said, and came after he basically doubled down in another tweet.
2) He may apologize for

Meh. Personally I found the tweet in question a bit of a let down after how much the news stories hyped it up.
Besides, it wasn’t even racist. It was nationalist, to be pedantic. I find the fact that it was described as such more offensive than some guy being mad that a non-American won the Indy 500.
