So, to start the day - our plans to get to Hartford CT the night before fell apart, so I got up at 3:30 to pick up my brother near Worcester and still get to the start by 8 ish. (no issues, we arrived at 7:30 or so).
Meetup at the start - what a cool bunch of people. The Pikachu Porsche, the ‘team 15mpg’ 2500HD GMC rigged for hypermiling, the ‘team golf’ in a VW Golf dressed for golfing, Fluffy Bunny (I’m not sure what your team was), the LeMons rally wagon, all of you were great people and it’s too bad we couldn’t spend a little more time chatting. Another time though, or that’s what this page is for anyway.
The event - we had no idea what we were in for. I knew it was a ‘photo scavenger hunt’ and that was about it. We got the list of things to find and were a little stunned. I immediately went looking for a paper map, but since we couldn’t find one we used the front page of the driver’s packet with the ‘souvenier’ map - it was good enough for the basic plotting of what towns were approximately where.
My brother was my navigator and organizer - I owe him and his memory a lot of credit. I skimmed through all the locations, but he went to town documenting all of the towns where things were, finding them and plotting them on the map, reading all of the categories in detail (things like souvenier bonuses etc). Then he listed all of the towns where there were items, which in the end might be what really mattered as the day went on.

It turns out after all that we won, and by only 4 points! Congratulations to all the teams who participated, it was so neat to randomly run into you all over the state! Thank you Dusty Ventures for putting this all together. Yesterday we were introduced to so many off the beaten path things in CT and we had a blast!

Thanks! What do you mean overboard with the mascot? It had to be in each photo, most of them weren’t set up at all, ‘lets get this picture and go’. We did take a few minutes for the little video clips though.
