Kinja'd!!!

Those front wheels are still barely on the pavement I guess. Also the trailer sides appear to be made from doors for what that’s worth.

From a little closer:

Why not place the load more over the trailer axles rather than the hitch?

Can we at least give him/her points for actually using an SUV/Jeep for something other than commuting?

Ah, he must be off to a math quiz.

He just wants to avoid the Renegade’s braking issue:

Hmm, that would be a solution.

I wonder it it’s overloaded, or if the weight is just poorly distributed.

Renegades don’t have much of a towing capacity. As a general rule, you pretty much want to stick with single-axle trailers only for those.

Yeah, it is definitely poorly distributed. Towing capacity is 2000lbs, and I’d guess they are under that, only because the trailer looks pretty empty. That trailer can definitely hold more than a Renegade can tow within spec.

Most people will probably add some steering input to all this when trying to avoid the obstacle. I’d imagine that would end up looking like this:

I was going to say. The load sure seems to be shifted mainly to the front of the trailer, when it should be more towards the back. That would probably help with that.

I wonder what the discussion leading up to hitching that thing up the Renegade was like........

“The front wheels are off the road!”

“These watermelons aren’t going to tow themselves!”

Yeah, that poor Jeep looks like it’s in need of a weight-distribution hitch. ...except that it should never be loaded down enough to need one in the first place. There’s probably a bunch of weight in the back of that Jeep too, upsetting the balance even more than the trailer’s tongue weight.

(Plot twist: they’re heading to the store to pick up even more stuff...)

Who on earth designs a trailer like that?

In my country the maximum (stationary) load for a normal type towing hitch is 75 kg (or 50 kg in certain cases). You couldn’t tow that kind of trailer here even if it would be empty.

What dashcam do you have? I really would like to replace my cheapo one

It does the job. Just not very well.

There’s a good chance that trailer takes up the towing capacity unloaded.

I have an B40/A118: https://dashcamtalk.com/b40-a118/

I like it a lot (though obviously the A118C which has a capacitor instead of a battery would be nicer).

If I were buying one today though, I’d probably grab the newer VIOFO A119 which is a similar form factor, but offers higher resolution recording: https://dashcamtalk.com/a119/

I’m from Finland but the same would apply in many other European countries too.
