30 Years ago this month, two Metropolitan Police Rover SD1 units took a donor liver on a 27 mile escort mission from a roundabout junction on the M11 to a waiting patient at the Cromwell Hospital in London. They had 30 minutes to get the liver to it’s destination, or be forced to abort the run.

Here is the complete run in it’s entirety with no edits or added music.

Pretty cool!

Interestingly enough, tomorrow is the 40th anniversary of something similar in the US. Back then two truck drivers had 28 hours to drive from Atlanta, GA to Texarkana, TX where they had to pick up 400 cases of beer and drive back to GA. They *just* made it on time.

Don’t forget! The brand of beer was not sold in GA at the time, and it was illegal to transport it across state lines.

Yup! One of those “older movie plot devices that make no sense now”.

Kind of like how Die Hard makes no sense if everyone has a cell phone.
