Because I know we never get to see fastback SUVs from the same perspective designers (and regular car buyers) see them. Maybe now this experimental bodystyle will make more sense. It was a natural way of having concept coupe drawings that retained their on paper exaggerated proportions.

They were a very interesting risk that wont last much longer since the Macan and F-Pace are the eventual style for these future on-road performance utilities.

Slopebacks will be quite the curiousity when we look back on them.

As always, my perspective is that the proportions make them look like Micro Machines, which is fine.

I don’t think they’re going to go away as long as there is a luxury marque badge on it.

I hate them because the only benefit they offer over the normal CUV from which they were spawned is a swoopy back end. It still drives exactly the same as the not-chopped-down version. To accomplish this questionably-attractive styling you give up rear headroom, cargo space, and visibility. If you’re going to have those things, might as well drive something lower to the ground and lighter.
