Kinja'd!!!

There’s a stunning percentage of people who don’t read one word of what they sign.

Like, I dunno loan documents? Because I get that all day long. Maybe before signing off on hundreds of thousands of dollars you should read the terms and conditions.

you should see the look on my bosses’ faces when they give me something to sign, and then i go to set down and read it ALL the way through “ we already told you what it says” to which i have always firmly replied “i aint sahnin nuffin iffn i dont gree whidit”........ aaand if i happen to be willing to agree with it i put an “X” where my signature goes.......

I work at a university, and students don’t read anything we send them. BUT I have software that can tell me what messages they received and when, so I can sit here with a student who says, “I never received...” and I can say, let’s see... right here, this is the message content, sent/received on x date/time, let’s look through your email real quick... yup! There it is.

We get this a fair amount in our industry... because we deal with an imperfect natural product, there is a certain allowable “waste factor” that we have no choice but to pass along. This is clearly stated on every quotation, order and invoice we send out. It’s standard procedure across the entire industry. And yet these people apparently can’t read and can’t get it through their heads that the product is not perfect, comes in certain sizes and NO WE CAN’T GIVE THAT PIECE YOU DON’T NEED AWAY FOR FREE.

I got some medical imaging done last week, and the receptionist actually skipped ahead in the document to the points I need to sign without letting me read them. I probably should have made her go back, but I’ve read over docs from this clinic before, and am pretty non-confrontational so I let it go. I think I’ll give them bad marks on the summary.
