I am getting pretty sick of news articles being framed in the context of impeachment of Trump. It is getting to the point where it’s the boy who cried impeachment. There is no scenario within the realm of possibilities where a Democrat gets into the presidency until 2020. Frankly I feel like I’m reading articles written by birthers.
The media has the freedom and right to publish what they want, but I fail to see how any of it is in any way productive.

It’s not about getting a Democrat in - this is happening too quickly to allow for that.
It’s about getting Trump out, even if it results in Paul Ryan or Orrin Hatch in the presidency. (It looks like Pence is involved enough that he’d be out too.)

He could certainly be impeached, but only for something major, such as proof of him directly collaborating with FSB agents.
He won’t be impeached for simply firing a subordinate like the FBI director.

I Agree, this is getting out of control. The media is off its rocker. I didn’t want Trump but the damage the media is doing to our country is worst than any president could do. The Democrats are a dying breed...litterally they have no young politicians in office. I think we are starting to see the beginning of the end for one of our main parties and It’s about time we get some fresh perspective in Washington.

Its about taking someone who can’t even be bothered to do the job, out of the oval office. Its about getting rid of Russian influence at the top levels of our government. The goal is to get someone who isn’t compromised in the top office, then focus on the 2020 election.

This is incredibly cliche’, but it is productive in generating traffic and therefore ad sales. For some it’s also cathartic to read and write about as their future may be threatened.
As divisive as it may seem- there is money to be made.

What if opinions have changed among the Republicans since he got in? Or, what if the Republicans were afraid of his base, but now as his approval is falling, feel safer about doing something?
And, this should transcend impeachment being a mere horse race act - Trump is highly dangerous to national security and our national standing, and the case can be made for multiple Constitutional violations on his part.

It produces ad revenue. Newspapers are hurting for circulation, and click bait titles get people to put coins in the machine. TV and internet news outlets outnumber the stars in the sky, and the one that doesn’t get in on the Trump soap opera has no chance of any ratings share.
An independent press is vital to a democratic society and serves a critical function, but that doesn’t mean it’s a noble enterprise. It never was. It’s a business, and its business is to entertain.

I am sure you know why the media really exists - it isn’t to educate people or be productive. It’s maybe one of the purest forms of capitalism out there. If one doesn’t like it, don’t click on it.
No credible sources are predicting impeachment, anyway. However, the orange menace still might not remain in office til 2020 even without it.

Average age of Dem in Congress is 59.6, while Republicans are 55.8, but Dems have been older on average since 1994.
Here’s the interesting part - the average age of Republican voters is 49.7, while Dems are 47.7. Also, according to mortality rates and exit voter polling, there (hypothetically) were 453,000 more Republican voters that bit the dust before the 2016 election than Democrat voters.

Its still a long shot now, but as more and more come out on the interference in the investigation, unreported contact, and now Russia bragging about being able to influence him through Flynn and Manafort, the odds keep getting better. Nixon being impeached took almost 18 months if I’m not mistaken.

Nixon wasn’t impeached because of the Watergate break in, he was impeached because of the cover up. Think about how serious Watergate was and that was American’s stealing campaign information from the opposing party.
Trump has admitting to firing the FBI director because he wouldn’t drop the bureau’s investigation into Trump’s relationship with Russia. That is pretty much textbook obstruction and it’s similar to what took down Nixon. Considering the make up of the house right now, that probably wouldn’t be enough to get impeachment done by itself because the republican cucks in congress are more concerned about party over country.
What will happen is that we will learn exactly how deep trump’s ties to Russia are... and I don’t think Manafort and Flynn, with their Russian ties, were just hired by coincidence. The whole thing just doesn’t pass the smell test.
Impeaching trump isn’t about getting a democrat in office, it’s about getting a narcissist grifter out who is using the presidency to enrich himself and his family. I disagreed with Bush and I disagree with Pence, but at least I think they would put the country’s interest ahead of their bank accounts.

Regardless of who the president is, there is a group that disagrees with him and wants him impeached. This has applied to the past 3, 1 of which actually was impeached for his cigar antics (and lying about them), but still finished his term.
Trump isn’t going anywhere, unless there is a much, much bigger bombshell that is yet to be released.
